Melissa Renee Barnes, 61, Hampstead, MD, formerly of Gettysburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at York Hospital.
She was born on November 7, 1963, in Gettysburg, PA, the daughter of the late William Brown and Mildred (Stambaugh) Brown of Gettysburg, PA.
Melissa worked in hospitality for most of her career in the Gettysburg area. She was a TV movie buff and enjoyed time outside at the beach. But most of all, she loved time spent with her children and grandchildren.
Melissa is survived by a daughter, Miranda Dorsey, and her husband, Dwayne Dorsey of Matthews, NC, a son, Terrill Barnes of Glenn Rock, PA, a companion, Mark Chermely, four grandchildren; Kyara Mitchner, LaShae Dorsey, Aunyae Dorsey, Wayden Dorsey, two great grandchildren; Kailan Bryant, Kysen Bryant, four brothers; Kevin Brown, Malcolm Brown, Mark Brown, Donald Brown and the children’s father, Terry Barnes.
A Memorial service will be held Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 11:00 AM from Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Online obituary and condolences available at monahanfuneralhome.com.
