Obituary: Melvin Louis Losovsky

Melvin Louis Losovsky, 93, Fairfield, PA, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Mercy House in Chambersburg, PA.

He was born April 1, 1932, in Baltimore, MD, the son of the late John and Frances Pavucek Losovsky. Melvin is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Jo Kreig Losovsky.

Mr. Losovsky was a graduate of the University of Baltimore and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Through the years, Melvin was a member of several Catholic churches: St. John’s Catholic Church in Westminster, MD, St. Ignatius Catholic Church in West Lawn, PA, and finally St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fairfield, PA. Melvin was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a longtime member of the Maryland Mustang Automobile Club. In his spare time, he coached CYO track and field and enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren. The rest of the time, you would find him working on his Mustangs.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Losovsky is survived by a daughter, Mary Hoffman and her husband Jason of Fairfield, PA, three grandchildren, Kevin Hoffman, Noah Hoffman, Allison Hoffman, and a brother, Robert Losovsky. He was predeceased by a son, Melvin John Losovsky, and a brother, John Losovsky.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, August 30, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 11:00 AM with Fr. Peter DoTomasso as celebrant. Interment will be in the church cemetery. There will be a viewing at the church on Saturday, August 30, 2025 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Michael J.
