
Born August 5, 1933 in Two Taverns. The son of the late Mervin Sr and Katie (Breighner) Weikert. Merv was the loving husband of Helen F (Martin) Weikert with whom he shared 68 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Mervin D. Weikert III, Margaret A. Fredrikis and husband Mark, Susan R. Grunden and husband Kery and grandchildren Gavin Grunden and Gwendolyn Grunden.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Carol Louise and by brothers Ralph and Allen Weikert, and a sister Anna E. Gilbert.
Merv was a member of Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church of Gettysburg where he served as an usher for many years. Merv was a 1951 graduate of Gettysburg High School. He served in the United States Marine Corp. He was an active member of the Biglerville Fire and Ambulance Company, Biglerville American Legion Post 262 and the Hanover Elks. Merv worked as a banker in Biglerville and Gettysburg for 36 years and own-operated apartments in the Gettysburg and Biglerville area.
In his pastime, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, attending Penn State football games and watching the Steelers. He enjoyed traveling the United States and other countries, especially fishing trips with his friends and family to Chincoteague, VA. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, April 25th at 11:00 AM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Fr. Aaron Lynch celebrant. Interment will be in Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery. There will be a visitation at the church Thursday morning April 25th from 10-11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial can be made to Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church 455 Table Rock Road Gettysburg, PA 17325.
