Michael graduated from Pius X High School in 1968 and as valedictorian from Regis University in 1972 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemisty.

Michael pursued a medical career on a US Navy Scholarship, graduating in 1975 from University of Nebraska Medical School, and in 1978 from residency in Internal Medicine in New Orleans, LA. He served as a physician in the United States Navy until honorably discharged in 1982.

Following the Navy, Michael worked at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA until 1994. In 1994, he and, then wife, Gianna Talone Sullivan, launched Mission of Mercy, a free mobile medical ministry, with the mission to restore dignity, healing through Love, by providing free healthcare. This year was Michael’s 30th year as Medical Director of Mission of Mercy and 50th year as a physician.

Michael received the Outstanding Alumni Award from Pius X High School in 2012 and a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014 for his work at Mission of Mercy.

Michael was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fairfield, PA, though he was a familiar face at every local Catholic Church, no matter the mass time. Daily mass was the most important part of his day and what gave him the strength to give himself completely to his work.

Michael was well known for his great sense of humor, love of the game of basketball, devotion to his Catholic faith, and selflessness with which he served his patients and community.

Remaining to cherish Michael’s memory are his daughters, Chelsea Randolph, her husband, John; Anne Marie Jaeckel, her wife, Caitlin; beloved grandchildren, Jaxon, Harper and Isla; his sisters, Maureen Liddle, her husband David, and Jan Sullivan-Campbell and her husband Ken. Michael is also survived by many nieces and nephews, dear friends and hundreds of patients and volunteers whom he served with great love.

Preceding Michael in death are his parents, Bernard and Jean Sullivan.

Michael will forever be remembered by all who knew him with great love, gratitude, and admiration.
