Obituary: Nancy L. Kane



Nancy L. Kane, 84, of Fairfield, PA died surrounded by her loving family Sunday afternoon, January 14, 2024 at the Gettysburg Hospital.

Born August 27, 1939 in Fairfield, PA she was the daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Eck) Weikert. She was the wife of G. Edward Kane, of Fairfield, PA to whom she was married for 65 years.

Mrs. Kane attended Fairfield Schools, graduating in the class of 1957. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Fairfield where she was the folk choir director for 38 years and taught Sunday school. She was the devoted Fairfield High School secretary for 32 years, and served as Secretary for the Fairfield High School Alumni Association, as well. She drove for Meals on Wheels and took care of the finances for the Fairfield Fire Company for several years. In addition to her work and activities, she enjoyed singing, crocheting, theater, dining out, and was a world traveler with her husband, family, and friends.

In addition to her husband, Nancy is survived by her three children, Lori Ann Kane, of Gettysburg, PA, Greg Kane and his wife Vickie, of Boonsboro, MD, Cheryl Kane-Piasecki and her husband Edmund, of Martinsburg, WV, her six grandchildren, Daniel Strasbaugh, Brent Strasbaugh, Kyle Kane, Erin Piasecki, Grant Kane, Jemma Piasecki, her two great grandchildren, her two brothers, James Weikert, Donald Weikert, her sister, Betty Cornwell, and a number of nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 256 Tract Rd., Fairfield, PA with Fr. Peter DiTomasso Celebrant. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Monday evening, January 22, 2024 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 27 E. Main St., Fairfield, PA, as well as at the church one hour prior to Mass Tuesday morning. Online condolences may be made at monahanfuneralhome.com.
