atricia A.J. Richardson, 100, of Orrtanna, PA formerly of Winchester, VA, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at her home. Born October 25, 1923, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late William B. & Eleanor (Foos) Johnson. Mrs. Richardson was predeceased by her husband, Donald M. Richardson, who died in 2008. She was a World War II veteran, serving with the U.S. Army Nurse Corp in the Philippines and Japan. Mrs. Richardson completed nurse’s training at Walter Reed Army Hospital and Johns Hopkins Hospital in the early 1940s, and after the war studied Nursing Education at the University of California. For over two decades, Mrs. Richardson was the consummate diplomatâs wife during her husbandâs overseas postings, a role in which she delighted. She was a former president of the Frederick County, VA, Homemakers Assoc., member of the Gettysburg Garden Club and Gettysburg YWCA Book Club. Mrs. Richardson will be greatly missed and is survived by her son, Donald M. Richardson (Bonnie) of Orrtanna, a daughter, Nina R. Bowling (Franklin) of Broomfield, CO, six grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Grove Richardson, and her sister, Ethel Cravets. Mrs. Richardson will be entombed with her late husband at Arlington National Cemetery. Full military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army Old Guard.
