Obituary: Rebecca Addison

Rebecca Addison, 97 of Gettysburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, May 24th. Born in Maurertown, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Bowser and Irene Fahnestock. Rebecca is survived by her daughters, Judy Welling of Glen Burnie, MD, Regina Aris of Bangor, ME, Debbie Addison of Laurel, MD, and a late son, John Addison, Jr., as well as four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Rebecca was preceded in death by eleven siblings.

Rebecca followed her husband John, a US Army officer reaching the rank of CW3, to numerous postings, including several overseas. In addition to being a devoted mother, Rebecca also volunteered in numerous ways, including with the Girl Scouts, Gettysburg Hospital, and her Church. Her later years were devoted to supporting her husband, John, at home, who suffered from Alzheimer’s.

An interment at Arlington National Cemetery will take place at a later date, where Rebecca will join her husband, John.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Gilchrist Hospice. A special thank you to the people at Gilchrist Hospice in Columbia, MD for their loving care and support during the final days of both John and Rebecca.
