Rebecca Jane Bigham, 87, of Gettysburg, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 25, at home into the arms of her savior, surrounded by her family.
Born on September 23, 1938, in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, to the late Paul E. and Mary L. (Varner)Heintzelman. She lived a life devoted to faith, family and service.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Tammy Adams, and her husband, Rodney Adams, three cherished grandchildren, Tiffany Adams, Bradley Adams (wife Jackie), and Ashley Luntz (husband Garrett), all of Gettysburg. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren, Michaela Hobbs, Jared Luntz, Andrew Adams, Victoria Miller, Alexus Luntz, Jeremiah Scott and Jaden Adams and four great great grandchildren Jaxon Lawrence, Easton Luntz, Desmond Adams and Delia Hobbs who brought her endless joy, and her sister Rose Crilley of Zullinger, Pa. Her family was the love of her life second, only to Christ.
She retired from South Mountain Restoration Center after 25 years of service. Her compassion and hard work touched countless lives. She was a woman of great faith, always sharing the word of God, leading others to Jesus through acts of kindness and putting everyone before herself. Her love for Christ guided every step of her life, and her faith was the foundation which she built her family legacy. Rebecca found happiness in caring for others. She loved cleaning, cooking, baking, and tending to her yard with pride and care, but above all else, she enjoyed taking care of her family. Her kindness, faith, and gentle spirit will be remembered by all who knew her.
Her life was a shining example of unconditional love, faith, and devotion. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of faith and family will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She was preceded in death by four siblings, Margaret Cullison, Richard Heintzelman, Clarence Heintzelman, and Marybelle Staley.
Funeral services for Rebecca will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, December 1, 2025, at First Baptist Church, 1015 Chambersburg Rd., Gettysburg, with Rev. Carl Harris and Pastor Jim Strite officiating. Burial will be in the Fairfield Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until the time of the service, Monday afternoon at the church.
