Rita A. Swartz, Biglerville, PA, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at her home.
She was born March 13, 1953, in Gettysburg, PA, the daughter of the late Charles H.
and Pauline Hoffman Champlain. Rita is survived by her husband, Jerry C.
Swartz.
Rita was a graduate of South Western High School in Hanover, PA. For a time, she
did house cleaning in the area. But most of her time was spent raising her family.
She enjoyed reading, antique shopping, and thrift shopping. Most of all, she loved
her time with her family, watching her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Rita is survived by three children: Angela Hauer of
Mosheim, TN, Chrystal Swartz and her husband Matt of Gettysburg, PA, Mari
Barrett and her husband, David of Chuckey, TN, have nine grandchildren: Elizabeth
McLain and her husband Shane, Brittany Greene and her husband Joshua, Abigail
Strine, Trinity Strine, Emilie Huff, Garylee Huff III, Elijah Barrett, Neva Barrett,
Oliva Barrett, five great-grandchildren; Noah Bove, Alexzander McClain, Alayna
Flanary, Dominick Potter, Jameson McClain, and three sisters; Myrtle Anderson of
Florida, Rachel Redding of Gettysburg, PA, and Delphine Shinn of West Virginia.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Monahan
Funeral Home in Gettysburg, PA. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Park
Gardens. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 AM
