Robert Daniel Wetzel, age 88 of Lancaster, formerly of Biglerville, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Trillium Place in Lancaster. He was born on Tuesday, December 1, 1936, in Gettysburg, the son of the late Raymond J. and Clara Bell (McDannell) Wetzel.
Robert graduated from Gettysburg High School in 1954. He was formerly employed by the C.H. Musselman Company and later Knouse Foods for over 35 years. He was a member of Prince of Peace Episcopal Church in Gettysburg.
His wife, Bettye L. Wetzel passed in 2013. He is survived by two sons, Joseph A. and wife Debbie D. Wetzel of Landisville and James H. and wife Julie E. Wetzel of Terre Hill, a granddaughter, Carlie N. Wetzel of Meriden, NH, two grandsons, Benjamin J. Wetzel of Upland, IN and Christopher A. Wetzel of Pelham, AL, five great-grandchildren Caroline, Lydia, Nathan, Evan, and Mark. He was preceded in death by brothers Floyd Wetzel (infant) and Thomas L. Wetzel, sister Genevieve L. Strasbaugh, granddaughter Danielle E. Wetzel, daughter-in-law Joan B. Wetzel (wife of James H. Wetzel).
Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Prince of Peace Episcopal Church, 20 W. High Street, Gettysburg with Reverend Jim Strader-Sasser officiating.
