Obituary: Robert L. Bolger

Robert L. Bolger, 91, of Fairfield, PA, died Tuesday morning, March 31, 2026, at his home.

Born May 8, 1934, in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Clarence and Edna (Kelley) Bolger. He was the husband of the late Kathleen (Naughton) Bolger, who died October 5, 2024.

Robert was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Fairfield, where he previously served as lector and on the parish Finance Committee. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and Air Force Reserve, serving during the 1950s. He earned his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and his Master’s in Electrical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He began work as a junior engineer at Commonwealth Edison (now Exelon) in 1957, rising to the position of Vice President before retiring in 1991. He and his wife then relocated to the Fairfield area, building a home in Carroll Valley, which they used as their base while traveling widely around the United States.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Kathleen M. Bolger, of Fairfield, PA, his son, John P. Bolger, and his wife, Chuza, of Eldersburg, MD, and his two grandchildren, Alvaro and Alissa. He was predeceased by his son, James R. Bolger.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 256 Tract Rd., Fairfield, PA, with Fr. Peter DiTomasso as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass on Wednesday morning at the church.
