Obituary: Roland W. Fisher, Jr.

Roland W. Fisher, Jr., 94, died Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Homewood at Plum Creek in Hanover. He was predeceased by his high school sweetheart, wife of 68 years, Virginia (Ginny) W. Fisher.

Born February of 1931 in Baltimore, MD; he was the son of the late Roland W. Fisher, Sr., and Mary E. (Gray) Fisher, and brother of the late Elizabeth (Fisher) Endlich.

Roland is survived by two sons, William R. Fisher and wife, Louise, of Westminster, and John S. Fisher and wife, Jody, of Stewartstown; two daughters, Jeanne M. Kroll and husband, Frank, of Baltimore County, and Deborah A. Miller and husband, Robert, of Laurel, DE; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Roland was a high school graduate from Mount St. Joseph High School. He valiantly served in the United States Marine Corps with the 1st Marine Corps Division in Korea achieving the rank of Sergeant.

Roland retired from the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company after 40 years of service. He proudly participated as a drill sergeant in the American Legion Honor Guard and Drill Team and performed at many patriotic events, such as at the Iwo Jima Memorial for Veterans Day and Memorial Day. He enjoyed volunteering with children in the therapeutic riding program.

In retirement, he enjoyed traveling with Ginny and their dear friends. He loved attending family gatherings and the sporting and school events of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Roland was a member of Saint Aloysius Catholic Church in Littlestown.

There will be a viewing Wednesday, May 7 from 6-8 pm at Little’s Funeral Home in Littlestown, PA. Catholic mass will take place 10 am Thursday, May 8 at St. Aloysius in Littlestown with interment in Lakeview Memorial Park in Sykesville, MD.
