Shaun passed in peace on Easter Monday, 4-21-25, at his home in Mechanicsburg, PA, after a courageous battle with cancer. He is the son of Fred J. Hughes, Jr. (wife Becky) and Monica Updegraff (husband Richard). Both parents and spouses are surviving.
He is also survived by his loving wife Joyce, daughter Angela Knauer (husband Jerry), and two beautiful grandchildren, Max and Georgina. Shaun’s surviving brothers are Troy A. Hughes (wife Dotty) and Mark A. Hughes (wife Sherry). Shaun is also survived by his niece, Christy (Hannah)Hughes.
Shaun was a graduate of York College of PA, where he earned a B.S. degree in Marketing. He went on to take over his father’s business, “Bowhunter’s Warehouse”, a national mail-order company in Wellsville, PA. Shaun then went on to be ordained as a non-denominational minister. He started “The Word of the Dove” ministry. Shaun and Joyce held miracle healing services and performed weddings, which opened many doors to prayer ministry, to which they were called, and touched the lives of many.
As a youth, Shaun enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. His love for the outdoors continued throughout his life. Shaun and Joyce often walked and enjoyed weekend excursions to hike and take joy in God’s natural beauty. Shaun also took great joy in spending time with the ones he loved.
Friends and family are invited to a service in Fairfield, PA, at Monahan Funeral Home, 27 E. Main St., Fairfield, PA 17320, on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. for a meet-and-greet and 2:00 p.m. for the funeral service. The graveside service will immediately follow at Fairfield Union Cemetery at approximately 3:00 p.m. The cemetery is located nearby at 5000 Fairfield Rd., Fairfield, PA 17320.
