Obituary: Sherry Lee Cohen

Our beloved Sherry passed peacefully on Friday morning, July 11, 2025, at her home in Gettysburg, PA, where she resided with her husband of 27 years, Jay Cohen. She lived 75 beautiful years.

She is survived by her husband Jay, her daughters Chrissy, Cindy, and Cassie, her sons-in-law Tom and Patrick, and six grandchildren: Lexie, Keegan, Luke, Riley, Ryan, and Grace. She is also survived by her sister Glenda Brion, her cherished brother-in-law Neil Cohen, and her sweet dog Murphy, who will miss her dearly.

Born and raised in Oxford, PA, Sherry later lived in Olney and Frederick, MD, before retiring to Gettysburg with Jay.

A hairdresser for most of her life, Sherry loved making others feel beautiful and was a trusted part of her clients’ lives. Later, she passed on her passion by teaching cosmetology to the next generation.

Sherry was known for her love of music, dancing, sewing, and cooking—especially her famous Christmas cookies. She created special crafts and traditions with her grandchildren and poured love into every detail of family life. She raised three strong, independent daughters and adored all her grandchildren with her whole heart.

Her joy was contagious. She danced at every family function, taught her grandchildren how to move to the beat, and always brought a joke and a smile to the room. Her sass, humor, and light will live on through everyone who loved her.

Two months before her passing, Sherry was honored with a beautiful “Living Celebration of Life” surrounded by friends, music, dancing, and joy—just the way she wanted. There will be no additional service. She will be cremated and her ashes shared with her beloved husband, children, and grandchildren.

Sherry’s spirit, strength, and love will be with us always.
