Stanley Sherman Sutton, Sr., 82, of Gettysburg, PA, died Wednesday evening, February 18, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born July 14, 1943, in Pulaski, VA, he was the son of the late Howard M. and Emma V. (Stanley) Sutton. He was the loving husband of Loretta M. (Ward) Sutton, of Gettysburg, with whom he was married for 64 years.
Mr. Sutton worked for many years as a dedicated truck driver, first retiring from ExxonMobil and later from Giant Food in Maryland. He had a lifelong interest in trains, but above all, he cherished time spent with his family.
In his younger years, he proudly served as a volunteer firefighter with Company 34 in Prince George’s County, Maryland, demonstrating his commitment to his community.
In addition to his wife, Stanley is survived by his five children, Stanley S. “Buddy” Sutton, Jr., of Frederick, MD, Tamera E. Grimes, of Chambersburg, PA, William M. Sutton, of Las Vegas, NV, Teresa M. Langley and her husband John, of Mt. Airy, MD, Cheryl M. Osborne and her husband Eric, of Denton, NC, 15 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.
Stanley was preceded in death by his two brothers, Mitchell Sutton and John Sutton.
