Obituary: Teresa E. Slonaker

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Teresa E. Slonaker of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

Teresa passed away peacefully at the age of 99 and a half at Lighthouse Senior Living in Ellicott City, Maryland, on July 4, 2026, surrounded by family members.

She and her twin sister, Nancy, were born on January 8, 1927, in Gettysburg, daughters of the late Frank and Anna (Keefer) Slonaker. Teresa graduated from Gettysburg High School, and during her career as an administrative assistant, worked at Letterkenny and L. E. Smith Newspaper and Magazine Distributors in the Gettysburg area.

She was a lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Gettysburg. Teresa’s favorite activity was bowling, which kept her young at heart and active. An avid sports fan, she greatly enjoyed watching the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and dining with her family at the Gettysburg Family Restaurant.

Teresa was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Slonaker, and her three sisters, Mary Ann Slonaker, Nancy Buffington, and Joanne Richardson. She is survived by her cousin, Winnie McMaster (Mike); nephews, Jim Richardson (Melissa) and Paul Richardson (Kathy); nieces, Judy Dahne (Mitch), Laura Johnson (Howard), Ann Rogers (Tony), and Susan Richardson (Gary); and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon on Monday, July 13, 2026, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 45 West High Street, Gettysburg, with Fr. Michael Pray as celebrant. Interment will follow the Mass at Annunciation Cemetery in McSherrystown, Pennsylvania. A viewing for Teresa will take place at the church on Monday one hour prior to the Mass. Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg is assisting with the arrangements. Online tributes and condolences may be made at monahanfuneralhome.com.
