Obituary: Theophilus “Tag” Golden

Theophilus A. “Tag” Golden, 73, Gettysburg, PA, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Gettysburg Hospital.

He was born September 21, 1952, in Darien, GA, the son of the late Mack and Lucille Jones Golden. Tag is survived by his devoted wife of over 52 years, Linda Miller Golden.

Mr. Golden was a 1971 graduate of the McIntosh County Academy in Darien, GA. Shortly after graduation, he moved to the Gettysburg area, where he was employed for over 40 years as an expeditor at the former Westinghouse Elevator Company, later known as Schindler Elevator. He was a proud member of the Gettysburg American Legion and the Gettysburg VFW.

Tag enjoyed watching Westerns, fishing, dining out, and going to the beach. He found great joy in sitting on his front porch on Middle Street, where he loved people-watching and greeting neighbors. Above all else, Tag cherished time spent with his family.

In addition to his wife, Tag was survived by his daughter, Deena Golden of Hanover, PA, his son, Darian Golden of Gettysburg, PA, twelve grandchildren; Darius Leppo, Karissa Cleckner, Lindsay Cleckner, Ty Sherman, Tyson Sherman, Paige Berube, Aliana Roman, Dawaun Golden, Tayshawn Golden, Brandon Golden, Shayla Russo, and Brayden Lancaster, three great grandchildren; Milena Bray Berube, Anthony Sherman, and Krue Sherman, two sisters; Elouise Golden Mells and Ernestine Golden of Townsend GA, one uncle; Carl Golden, four aunts; Juanita Mock, Sallie Davis, Katie Nelson (Frank) of Philadelphia PA and Juanita Golden of Savannah GA, along with a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Golden was predeceased by his sister, Mary Lou Relaford, six brothers: Robert Lee Golden, Herman Riley, Freddy Sistrunk, Joe Thomas Golden (Peter), Rosevelt “Slim” Sistrunk, and Henry Sistrunk.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM from Gettysburg United Methodist Church with Rev. David Roberts and Rev. Victor Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. A viewing at the church on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
