Thomas M. Hess, Sr., 93, of Gettysburg, PA, died Monday afternoon, August 18, 2025, at Genesis Healthcare, Gettysburg Center.
Born November 4, 1931, in Gettysburg, PA, he was the son of the late Selmar H. and Bessie (Warren) Hess, Sr. He was the husband of Ruth R. (Trump) Hess, of Gettysburg, to whom he was married for 71 years.
Mr. Hess worked as a mail carrier for the Gettysburg Post Office for 33 years. He was a member of the Gettysburg High School Class of 1950. He coached the Hess Antique Softball team in the Gettysburg Community Softball League for many years, and he also enjoyed bowling.
In addition to his wife, Thomas is survived by his five children, Thomas M. Hess, Jr., of York, PA, Kathy Clark, of Thomasville, PA, John Hess, of Collegeville, PA, Nancy Cullison, of Gettysburg, PA, Sandy Beats, of Hanover, PA, 17 grandchildren, 18, great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Wilson, his grandson, Brian Wilson, his two brothers, Gene Hess and Selmar Hess, Jr., and his sister, Jackie Little.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 22, 2025, at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg.
