
Vandessa Johnson, of Gettysburg Pa, passed away suddenly in her home on May 10, 2024. She was a strong single mother of 4 children and considered a parent figure by other people who knew and loved her. She always contributed a loving heart, words of wisdom, and open arms for all she encountered. She had a large extended family who loved her dearly and she was significantly respected by those throughout the community for her repeated contributions, especially for the 3rd ward and all those involved.
She earned her bachelorâs degree in computer programming and medical research from the University of Maryland and then went to work for the University of Maryland Hospital. She enforced her strong passion for higher education on to her children as well as other children, not only throughout her family, but also throughout the community as well.
Vandessa held a strong passion for cooking for those she loved and spent a lot of her free time engaging in this hobby. She always had a desire to open a restaurant and every event that took place in both the community and in her family, she always felt the need to bring multiple dishes. When she wasnât cooking, she spent time with her children and grandchildren, either fishing, playing games, going places, or just giving them enormous amounts of love.
The family will hold a Celebration of Vandessaâs Life from 3:00 â 7:00 PM, Saturday, June 1, 2024 at the Gettysburg Rec Park, 545 Long Lane, Gettysburg, PA. The Monahan Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements and online condolences may be made at monahanfuneralhome.com.
