Obituary: Virginia Lee Wadel

Virginia Lee (Miller) Wadel, age 73 of Orrstown, passed away May 20, 2025, at home, surrounded by her family, after a brief illness. She was born February 15, 1952, in McConnellsburg to the late William C. and May M. (Kelso) Miller.

Virginia was a dedicated child of God and faithfully served Him as a member of Shippensburg Christian Fellowship. She loved homemaking, gardening, baking, and sewing, and perfected these arts as a beloved and devoted wife, mother, and grandma. Virginia served alongside her husband in the church and community for many years and is remembered for her hospitality and the multitude of meals she organized and prepared.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years and 11 months, Marvin J. Wadel; children, Marla Martin and husband, Wendell of Shippensburg, Darian Wadel and wife, Janee of Orrstown, Christa Thrush and husband, Barry, of Shippensburg, Justin Wadel and wife, Jeanie, of Chambersburg, Joanna Hendricks and husband, Wesley Jr., of Shippensburg, Lindon Wadel and wife, Laura, of Cheyenne, WY, and Kara Wadel of Orrstown; 30 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Wilma Runk of Roxbury, Helen Banzhoff and husband, Emmert of Chambersburg, and brother, Charles Miller of McConnellsburg. Virginia is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by 11 siblings.

Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg. A viewing will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Shippensburg Christian Fellowship, 10600 Blind Lane, Shippensburg, PA 17257, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. Funeral service will be held at the church on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 10 am. Harvey Reiff and Anthony Martin will officiate the funeral service. Virginia will be laid to rest at the church cemetery with a graveside service immediately following the funeral. Edsel Burdge will officiate.
