Vonny C. Wherley, 84 of Gettysburg, PA, unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at The Gettysburg Hospital.
She was born August 3, 1941, in Aspers, PA, daughter of the late Donald C. & Ruth (Black) Gulden. Vonny was predeceased by her husband, Harold L. “Buck” Wherley, who died in 2008. She was a lifelong resident of Adams County, a member of Mt. Joy Lutheran Church, and worked for many years at the Gettysburg High School cafeteria. Vonny enjoyed reading, watching hummingbirds from her deck, and viewing her favorite TV shows. She is survived by two sons, Douglas E. Wherley and his wife Denise and Todd E. Wherley both of Gettysburg, a granddaughter, Caitlyn Plank and her husband Jessie Plank, Jr., three great grandchildren, Kaylee, Emory and Wyatt Plank, a sister, Joyce Steinour and her husband Donald, three brothers, Michael Gulden and his wife Betsy, David Gulden and his wife Diana and Keith Gulden, a sister-in-law JoAnn Gulden, a brother-in-law Mack Chilcote all of Gettysburg and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Vonny was predeceased by a son, David Wherley, a sister, Patsy Chilcote and two brothers, Wayne and Cecil Gulden. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 3, 2025 at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg with Rev. Cathy Fiel, officiating. Burial will be in Mount Joy Cemetery, Gettysburg. A Viewing will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral services on Friday.
