Obituary: Wayne H. Rodgers

Wayne H. Rodgers, age 90 of Gettysburg, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on August 14, 2025, at home. He was born July 8, 1935, in Hanover to the late Earl D. and Annie (Moul) Rodgers. Wayne was widowed by his wife, Gladys (Reed) Rodgers, to whom he shared 47 years of marriage.

Wayne was a US Army Veteran and owned and operated his own dairy farm. He was a member of Trinity Christian Fellowship in Biglerville, St. John’s Lutheran Church in Abbottstown, and the Ira E Lady American Legion in Biglerville. Wayne was an avid singer and sang at over 250 weddings, and also sang at the Biglerville Variety show, where he would close out the services by singing, God Bless the USA. He also loved to golf and hunt.

He is survived by his sons, James Rodgers and wife, Teresa of Biglerville, and Curtis Rodgers and wife, Bonnie of Biglerville; grandchildren, Brady Rodgers and wife, Newrihna, Jordan Rodgers, Abigail Rodgers, and Brylee Rodgers; great-grandson, Luke James Rodgers, and loving companion, Nancy Shilling. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Dale Rodgers, William Rodgers, Robert Rodgers, Janet Geiman, Nadine Nace, and Violet Haar.

Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral and Cremation, Ltd, 111 S. Main Street, Bendersville, where friends are invited to a viewing on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, from 5 to 8 pm. Additional viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 11 am at Trinity Christian Fellowship, 300 E. York Street, Biglerville, PA 17307. Pastor John Weber will officiate the funeral. Wayne will be laid to rest at Biglerville Cemetery with military honors provided by the Adams County Allied Veterans.

The family would like to thank Wayne’s caregivers, Melissa, Jesse, Kathy, Robin, Sarah and Allissa, along with the many friends and neighbors who assisted with his care.
