Obituary: Wilbur Francis Martin

Wilbur F. Martin, 88, of Gettysburg, PA, died Sunday morning, August 16, 2026, at Transitions Healthcare, Gettysburg.

Born December 28, 1937, in Gettysburg, PA, he was the son of the late Franz C. and Mabel (Good) Martin, Jr. He was the husband of Dolores E. (Topper) Martin of Gettysburg, to whom he was married for 67 years.

Mr. Martin was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Fairfield. Born and raised in Adams County and a farmer his entire life, he was well known in the farming community.

In addition to his wife, Wilbur is survived by his nine children, Rose Marie (William) Jacobs, Robert (Mary Lynn) Martin, Elaine (Frank) Glunz, Stephen (Tracy) Martin, Samuel (Holly) Martin, Timothy (Candy) Martin, Thomas (Kris) Martin, Rebecca (David) Blevins, Eric (Maureen) Martin, 20 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and four siblings, Joyce Speelman, Barbara Deardorff, Donald Martin, and Patricia Redding. He was preceded in death by seven siblings, Shirley Klinefelter, Leonard Martin, Leroy Martin, Fred Martin, Kenneth Martin, Charles Martin, and Philip Martin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic, 256 Tract Rd., Fairfield, PA, with Fr. Peter DiTomasso as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass on Thursday morning at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Fairfield.
