William A. “Bill” Bixler, 79 of Gettysburg, PA, passed away at UPMC York Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. Born February 17, 1946, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late George H. & Gladys M. (Edwards) Bixler. Bill was predeceased by his partner of many years, Robert “Bob” Bittick, Jr., who died in 2021. He was a 1964 graduate of Hanover High School and earned his Master’s Degree of Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute of Art (MICA). Bill was co-owner of George H. Bixler, Inc. from 1980 until his retirement in 2015. Bill was a wonderful artist in all areas, oil paintings, drawing, jewelry, sculpting, etc. He owned the Syntron Studio in Gettysburg for a number of years. Bill was the past president of ABATE and designed the club’s logo; he enjoyed the peace of his backyard garden and his trips to Kent Island, MD, and Jekyll Island, GA. Bill is survived by his brother, Rodney G. Bixler, and his partner, Deb Shaffer, and his sister, Ann L. Little and her husband, Richard Little, Jr., both of Hanover, PA, four nieces, Tara Haney, Holly Maisano, Amber Dubs, and Tiffany Saleh, and two nephews, Adam Bixler and Scott Little. Private funeral services will be held with interment in the Menallen Friends Meeting House Cemetery. A Memorial Service is planned for a later date.
