William E. Bowman, 53, of Gettysburg, PA, died suddenly Tuesday morning, September 8, 2026, at his home.

Born June 24, 1973, in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of Charles L. Bowman Sr. of Manchester, MD, and the late Sandra L. (Tracey) Bowman. He was the loving husband of Tammy S. (Reed) Bowman of Gettysburg. Though married for the past two years, Bill and Tammy’s story began long before that as high school sweethearts who were fortunate enough to find their way back to one another.

Bill worked as a truck driver for Maryland Environmental Services for many years.

Bill had a true zest for life and an infectious smile that could light up a room. He was silly, goofy, a little off the wall, and always ready to make those around him laugh. He loved riding his motorcycle, hunting, camping, and the many friendships he made along the way—especially those formed at the campground. Some of his greatest joy came from spending time with his granddaughter, Sophia, whom he absolutely adored.

More than anything, Bill was the kind of person you could call at a moment’s notice. If someone needed help, there were no questions asked—only, “Where are we meeting, and who’s driving?” He showed up for the people he loved, supported them wholeheartedly, and was always willing to go along with Tammy’s newest idea. He never seemed to meet a stranger, and his larger-than-life personality, generosity, and genuine love for people left an impression everywhere he went.

In addition to his wife and father, William is survived by his son, Troy Bowman, and his wife, Melissa, of Littlestown, PA; his daughter, Sydney Hahn, and her companion, Alex Myers, of Hanover, PA; his grandchildren, Sophia Myers, Everly Myers, and Sadie Bowman; and his sister, Laura McAlexander, and her husband, Martin, of Manchester, MD. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles L. Bowman Jr.
