Obituary: Yvonne L. “Bonnie” Strine

Bonnie Strine, 88, of Gettysburg, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Transitions Healthcare in Gettysburg. She was the wife of the late Harry A. Strine, who passed on December 29, 2018. They shared 64 years of marriage.

Born October 14, 1936, in Hanover. She was the daughter of the late Merle O. and Daisy C. (Goodyear) Weikert. Bonnie graduated from Littlestown High School in 1954 and retired from Gettysburg Area School District in 1993 after 26 years as the Business Manager’s Executive Assistant/Payroll Specialist. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Littlestown.

Bonnie loved working in her flower beds, collecting lighthouses and Santa Claus figurines, knitting, watching ice skating, playing cards, dancing to big band music, and of course, golfing. She enjoyed visiting Shady Maple Smorgasbord many times during her retirement years. Bonnie loved anything chocolate. Her specialty was making peanut butter crackers dipped in chocolate, all the time!

Next to spending time with their family and friends, Bonnie and Harry’s favorite pastime was playing golf, which they did for many years, every chance they got. They built their forever home on Johnson Drive at Lake Heritage in Gettysburg, where they were property owners for 58 years.

Bonnie is survived by daughters Lorri Sue Boone (Milt) of Orrtanna, Amanda L. Steinour (Ed) of Gettysburg, Daughter-in-law, Stacie Fritz Strine of Magnolia, Texas, her 7 grandchildren, Shannon, Kyle, Matt, Eric, Zach, Jake, and Luke; 2 step grandchildren, Bradley and Jodi; 4 great grandchildren, Ava, Jocelyn, Grayson, and Rowan; 3 step-great grandchildren, Wyatt, Jase, and Addilyn, along with several nieces and nephews.

Bonnie was predeceased by her husband, Harry A. Strine, in 2018, her son, Bradford A. Strine, in 2024, and her brother, Larry M. Weikert, in 2000.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Bonnie’s life will be held, Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Littles Funeral Home, 34 Maple Avenue, Littlestown, PA 17340, with Pastor Richard Michael officiating. A time to share memories with family will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
