November marks National Family Caregiver Month, a nationwide observance recognizing the millions of Americans who provide unpaid care to loved ones facing chronic conditions, disabilities, and other health challenges. The month is dedicated to acknowledging their essential role, raising awareness of the physical, emotional, and financial strain they often experience, and connecting caregivers with resources that can help sustain their well-being.
Family caregivers often balance demanding schedules, medical responsibilities, and complex family dynamics, all while navigating healthcare systems that can be challenging to manage. Advocates note that caregivers are more likely to experience stress, fatigue, and financial strain compared with the general population. National Family Caregiver Month serves as an opportunity for health organizations, nonprofits, and community groups to offer tools and support that reinforce caregivers’ health and resilience.
As part of this effort, AmeriHealth Caritas Pennsylvania is hosting a virtual Caregiver Forum in collaboration with Carallel to provide guidance and education tailored to the realities of caregiving. This year’s session will focus on When Family Dynamics Make Caregiving Harder, and What To Do About It, addressing the interpersonal challenges that can arise when families share—or struggle to share—care responsibilities.
The online forum will take place this Wednesday, November 19, at 12 p.m. EST and is open to caregivers, family members, and professionals seeking strategies to navigate communication barriers, conflicting expectations, or emotionally charged situations that often accompany long-term care. Organizers aim to create a space where participants can gain practical insights while also being reminded that they are not alone in their efforts.
