Pennsylvania Senators Bob Casey (D-PA) and John Fetterman (D-PA) announced their support for President Joe Biden’s nomination of Judge Gail A. Weilheimer to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The senators emphasized their role in recommending candidates committed to equal justice, legal experience, and integrity.
“Judge Weilheimer has served the people of Southeastern Pennsylvania for decades, bringing to the table a wealth of experience ranging from the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office to Abington Township Commissioner to the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas,” stated Senator Casey. “She is a committed public servant with the skill, character, and integrity to serve the people of the Eastern District. I look forward to voting to confirm her swiftly.”

Senator Fetterman praised Judge Weilheimer’s extensive judicial service. “Judge Weilheimer has served our commonwealth with distinction as a judge on the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas for more than a decade, where she has demonstrated a rock-solid commitment to the rule of law and the pursuit of justice for all Pennsylvanians,” he said. “I am particularly proud of her attention and dedication to helping address the needs of Pennsylvanians dealing with mental health challenges who become involved with the justice system.”
Senators Casey and Fetterman continue Pennsylvania’s tradition of bipartisan cooperation in judicial nominations. Casey has previously collaborated with then-Senators Arlen Specter (R-PA) and Pat Toomey (R-PA), confirming 37 District Court Judges for Pennsylvania from 2007-2022. Most recently, Casey and Fetterman recommended and confirmed Judge Julia Munley and Judge Karoline Mehalchick in the Middle District.
Judge Weilheimer has served on the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas since 2014 and has a rich background in public service and legal practice. She holds a J.D. and B.A. from Hofstra University.
