Palestinian and Israeli peace activists to speak in Gettysburg

Local organizers have arranged for a special presentation by a Palestinian and an Israeli peace activist in Valentine Hall at the United Lutheran Seminary on Thursday, October 24 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

The two presenters, Osama Iliwat and Rotem Levin, who form the duo “Salt of the Earth,” have been traveling across the country sharing their personal stories while promoting a shared future of security, equality, and justice for all people.

“We are for humanity. No one will be free if the others are living under occupation. No one will be safe unless everyone is safe,” said Iliwat and Levin in a joint statement about their speaking tour.

The presentation is free to attend and will consist of shared stories by Iliwat and Levin from 7:00 to 8:00, followed by a Q&A session with the audience. Registration is encouraged, but not required. More information can be found at: collectiveliberationgettysburg.eventbrite.com.

Organizers invite the community to come and hear the perspectives, vision, and experiences of these presenters. “As a local citizen who has lived and worked in Israel, and spent time with friends in Gaza and in the West Bank over many years, I am honored to welcome them here,” said Katie Klopp, an organizer for the event. “Come and learn to walk the middle path with us.”

This event has been supported in part by the Interfaith Center for Peace & Justice of
Gettysburg & Adams County.

Salt of the Earth will also be presenting Friday, October 25th from 5:00pm to 6:30pm at Wilson College, in Chambersburg, PA.
