Palmyra ace no-hits Gettysburg

Palmyra defeated Gettysburg 4-0 in softball action Thursday afternoon behind a scintillating performance from star pitcher Mollie White.

In going the distance and holding the Warriors hitless, White racked up 19 strikeouts, surrendering only one walk. Despite her magnificent work, the game was in doubt through the regulation seven innings until the Cougars broke things open with four runs in the top of the eighth. White came back out in the bottom of the inning, completing the win and the no-hitter.

On the offensive side, Palmyra managed ten hits in the end, with Kate Shenk, Emily Cutman, Vivian Jacoby, and White all getting two. Gettysburg was again victimized by defensive hiccups, as the Warriors committed four errors in the field. Samantha Carbaugh was the only Gettysburg player to reach base, as her base on balls was the only blemish on White’s otherwise-perfect game.

Gettysburg’s pitching duo of Danika Kump and Emily Haines held Palmyra scoreless for the first four innings.
