PennCares Support Services will offer the community a unique opportunity to understand better the challenges of living with dementia during its upcoming Dementia Live event, set for Tuesday, September 30, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at its Hanover office.
The free program, made possible through a grant from M&T Bank, will be held at 788 Cherry Tree Court. Participants can register for 30-minute time slots to experience an immersive, hands-on simulation designed to provide insight into the daily experiences of individuals with dementia.
Organizers say the event is intended to deepen empathy and awareness by allowing participants to step into the shoes of someone living with dementia, an illness that affects millions of families nationwide.
In addition to the simulation, PennCares is hosting an informal mixer. Guests are encouraged to come early or stay after their scheduled time to explore the facility, meet the PennCares team, and learn more about the organization’s programs and services. Light snacks and refreshments will be available.
PennCares Support Services provides a wide range of resources for individuals with disabilities, seniors, and their caregivers. Events like Dementia Live are part of its broader mission to educate the community and strengthen support networks for those navigating complex health and caregiving needs.
Registration is required and can be completed online at www.penncares.org under the “Upcoming Trainings” section or by scanning the QR code provided on event materials.
