Secretary Rick Siger of Pennsylvania’s Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) announced a $5 million investment in eleven major sporting events across the Commonwealth, expected to generate an estimated $240.2 million for the state’s economy. Funded through DCED’s Sports Marketing and Tourism Program, the grants aim to draw more visitors to Pennsylvania by supporting high-profile events.
Key events benefiting from this investment include the 2025 Men’s U.S. Open in Allegheny County, the 2025 Little League World Series and Major League Baseball Draft Game in Lycoming County, and the 2026 MLB All-Star Game in Philadelphia. These events are expected to boost local economies, create jobs, and attract millions of visitors from across the nation and beyond.

“Pennsylvania is set to host some of the biggest sports events, showcasing our great fans and our vibrant communities,” said Governor Josh Shapiro. “From historic sites to top-tier sports and world-class dining, Pennsylvania offers visitors an unforgettable experience.”
The Sports Marketing and Tourism Program, launched to increase tourism through major events, highlights Pennsylvania’s diverse appeal and its strategic location, with over 72 million people living within a four-hour drive. This investment follows the DCED’s 2023 commitment to drive economic growth through tourism, contributing to the state’s $76 billion annual tourism industry and supporting nearly half a million jobs statewide.
