The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) is launching its Small Business Week in Pennsylvania campaign this week. The campaign aims to recognize the importance of small businesses to the state’s economy and encourage Pennsylvanians to support local main streets and downtown businesses during the week of April 28 through May 4.
The weeklong campaign coincides with a number of initiatives outlined in Governor Josh Shapiro’s proposed budget, including $600 million in new and expanded investments to support the Main Street Matters program. The program aims to modernize and build upon the existing Keystone Communities program, which provides funding for community development projects.
“The driving force behind Pennsylvania’s economy is the innovation, passion, and hard work of entrepreneurs and small businesses like the ones we visited today in New Cumberland,” said Secretary Rick Siger. “When our communities thrive, so do our small businesses. That’s why Governor Shapiro is calling for smart investments that strengthen our downtowns and communities through the proposed Main Street Matters program.”
The DCED will be holding a series of regional tours to highlight the importance of small businesses to the state’s economy and encourage Pennsylvanians to support local main streets and downtown businesses.
