The Adams County Arts Council is seeking artists, storytellers and musicians to participate in the seventh edition of The PEOPLE Project, a community-based arts initiative centered on personal stories and local connections.
The theme for the 2026 project is “Generations & Crossroads,” tying into the upcoming America 250 and Pennsylvania 250 commemorations. Organizers say the project will explore moments of change, decision and convergence in participants’ lives while connecting those experiences to life in Adams County.
According to the Arts Council, Gettysburg’s role as a historic crossroads during one of the nation’s defining moments inspired this year’s theme.
Participants are invited to submit stories, music, and visual artwork reflecting a crossroads in their own lives and how those experiences helped shape where they live, work, and play today in Adams County.
The project will culminate in a live performance event on Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. in Cinema One at Majestic Theater. In addition, a themed art exhibit will be on display throughout October at the Adams County Arts Council, with an opening First Friday reception scheduled for Oct. 2.
Organizers said details regarding submissions are available through the arts council website, and commitments to participate are due by July 1.
Questions about the project may be directed to Lisa Cordiano of ChrysaLis Communications, director and producer of The PEOPLE Project.
The initiative is supported through funding and sponsorship from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, the J. William Warehime Foundation, the Robert C. Hoffman Charitable Endowment Trust, Celebrate Gettysburg magazine, and ChrysaLis Communications.
