A growing number of Adams County residents are demanding the resignation of Sheriff James Muller following a controversial social media post that critics say appeared to condone political violence.
An online petition surfaced this week, citing a Facebook meme Muller shared in mid-June during the nationwide “No Kings” protests, including a demonstration in Gettysburg on June 14. The post featured an image of a blood-splattered truck labeled “The All New Dodge Ram Protestor Edition,” sparking immediate backlash from community members and activists.
Petition organizers argue the post was irresponsible and dangerous, especially given the tense national climate at the time. They emphasized that had a real vehicle been driven into the Gettysburg protest crowd, the consequences could have been deadly.
The petition condemns any suggestion of political violence, stating that such messaging is incompatible with the values and mission of the sheriff’s office. It calls on Muller to step down immediately, saying his actions undermine public trust and safety.
