This morning, April 9, at 11:30 a.m., visiting professor Dr. Emily Yeh will be speaking on “Pests, Keystone Species, and Hungry Ghosts: Human-pika Relations on the Tibetan Plateau” in Bowen Auditorium at Gettysburg College. The public is invited to attend.
Dr Yeh’s presentation is entitled “Pests, Keystone Species, and Hungry Ghosts: Human-pike Relations on the Tibetan Plateau.” The talk examines exactly what pikas are (small mountain-dwelling mammals) and what draws them to specific sites, based on interviews in two pastoral communities, as well as readings from the Epic of King Gesar, which has been performed since the 12th century and continues to be part of everyday life.

Parking is available in the Constitution Avenue lot behind Glatfelter Hall. From there, please proceed toward the center of campus on the road between Glatfelter (the clock building on your right) and McCreary Hall (on your left after the greenhouses). Enter McCreary through the ground-floor door. Bowen Auditorium will be on your immediate right.
