Photo Gallery: Flag retirement ceremony on Flag Day in Biglerville

American Legion Post 262 held its annual Flag Day flag retirement ceremony yesterday.

Flags, patriotic pinwheels, and bookmarks were handed out to the attendees.

State Representative Torren Ecker attended the ceremony with his family.

Legion Post Commander Rick Pelc spoke about the Flag Day holiday.

The Apple Core Band played the Star Spangled Banner and other music.

Flags which were deemed unserviceable had a final inspection and then a proper, dignified, disposal.

The worn flags were described as a tribute to service and love. A prayer was offered.

The auxiliary provided a plentiful meal of hotdogs and burgers and delicious sides afterwards, along with a vast assortment of desserts.
