The “Give the Shirt Off Your Back” free shopping event returned to Arendtsville yesterday, drawing over 140 visitors to the Arendtsville Fire Department. The event continues today from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Organizer April Jones emphasized that the event is open to all. Shoppers found a wide range of free items, including men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing, as well as shoes, coats, books, toys, handbags, costume jewelry, and more. Volunteers assisted Jones in sorting the items to ensure quality, removing anything stained or damaged. “People got real quality stuff,” she said.

Live music was a new addition this year. Local musicians Evan Crider and Mat Morris performed throughout the day, creating a festive atmosphere. Visitors also enjoyed food from Papa Louie’s Food Truck and Red Neck Hot Dog Truck, while baked goods from Victoria Casita Bakery were available and will be offered again today.
Jones encouraged community connection by setting up tables and chairs to invite attendees to stay and socialize. Today’s food vendors will include R&A Asian Cuisine, Tamales Caseros, and Sunset Slush of Gettysburg.
Jones thanked all who helped make the event possible. “If you’ve never been, be sure to check it out tomorrow,” she said.
