Over 400 locals and visitors enjoyed the spring weather yesterday on the lawn surrounding the Gettysburg Rec Park’s bandstand, as six local bands brought a day of live music to town.
The day began at 2:00 p.m. with a duo from Sugar Hysteria, followed by Chuck Darwin & the Knuckledraggers. Southern and country sounds from Six Whiskey Revival and Jake Groft filled the middle of the afternoon before the sets closed out with Gettysburg’s classic rock band The Willys and an energetic closing set from Littlestown’s Heads or Tails Experience.

Listeners ran to the stage to dance as the last songs played while the sun set behind the bandstand.
More information about the festival is available here.
The day was a benefit for the rec park’s live music program. GARA Director Al Moyer said the day had brought over $1,300 in donations and income from the afternoon’s games of chance.
The food, alcohol, and confectionery vendors, set up near the Sterner Building, said they had had an excellent day.
The grounds, which were soggy on Friday after heavy rains on Wednesday and Thursday, dried out nicely by Saturday’s event, and the weather cooperated with a cool and sunny afternoon.
The rec park is expected to announce that the event will be held again on Memorial Day weekend 2026. Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 23, 2026.
