On July 20, 2025, community members gathered at SpiriTrust Lutheran, The Village at Gettysburg for The Longest Day, a nationwide initiative organized by the Alzheimer’s Association to raise awareness and funds for the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.
The event, held annually on the summer solstice, symbolizes the challenging journey faced by individuals living with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers. Participants walked throughout the day—from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.—demonstrating solidarity and support.

The Alzheimer’s Association offers a 24/7 Helpline at 1-800-272-3900, with assistance available in over 200 languages.
Organizers encouraged those who could not attend to show their support by making a donation or reaching out to caregivers in their communities.
