A new initiative to get 8,000 trees and shrubs into the hands of Adams County residents is launching this spring, the Adams County Planting Partnership announced.
The Adams County Planting Partnership is a collaboration between the Adams County Conservation District, the Watershed Alliance of Adams County and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, with the goal of increasing native plant growth in the county.

Trees and shrubs help to stabilize soils, absorb excess nutrients, shade and cool waterways, and provide food and shelter for fish and wildlife. The initiative is also expected to lessen the impacts of stormwater runoff and improve community and environmental benefits in urban areas.
A seedling request form will go live on March 2 at 9 a.m. and close on March 17 at 5 p.m. on the Adams County Planting Partnership website. Seedlings will be available for pickup at the Adams County Agricultural and Natural Resources Center from April 11-13.
