Ploughman Cider will celebrate its 10th anniversary with an orchard dinner at Three Springs Fruit Farm on Sept. 26 and an all-day anniversary party at the National Apple Museum in Biglerville on Dec. 12.

The Adams County cidery’s local festivities begin with the Feast of Johnny Appleseed at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 26, on the birthday of the American orchard pioneer.

Held at Three Springs Fruit Farm in Gardners, the multi-course, family-style dinner will be curated by Wildlings Events and feature produce from Three Springs and other local farms, paired with Ploughman ciders. Guests can also join a guided orchard walking tour and a question-and-answer session with the Ploughman team.

The menu is vegetarian-friendly. Nonalcoholic alternatives, accessibility needs and dietary requests can be accommodated with advance notice. Outside food and drinks are not permitted.

The celebration continues Dec. 12 with CIDERNALIA X, Ploughman’s 10th annual all-day anniversary party at the National Apple Museum. Additional details will be announced.

The milestone comes after a difficult growing season. According to the cidery, a late spring frost reduced the region’s typical apple harvest by half or more and caused even greater losses to stone fruit crops. Owner and operator Ben Wenk said the anniversary offers an opportunity to recognize the community’s support and the resilience of the farm and its staff.

Ploughman makes its ciders and perries exclusively from fruit grown at Three Springs, where the Wenk family has farmed for more than 200 years. The family planted its first specially selected cider trees in 2015 and bottled its first cider on Dec. 2, 2016.

Three years later, Ploughman opened its Gettysburg taproom, which serves regional food and beverages and regularly hosts local musicians.

The anniversary season also includes December events in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, along with a limited single-barrel reserve cider release.
