Preparing with Purpose and Care: End-of-Life Resource Fair Offers Guidance for Every Step

The End of Life Committee, an affiliate of Healthy Adams County, hosted an informative Resource Fair today at the Nicarry Meetinghouse in New Oxford. The event, held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., provided practical guidance, resources, and support for individuals and families making important end-of-life decisions.

Presentations covered a wide range of topics, including financial and legal planning, Medicare, home and nursing care, hospice and palliative services, burial arrangements, and funeral planning. Attendees also had access to grief support resources, estate and financial planning advice, and assistance with advanced directives and living wills.

A light lunch of sliders, macaroni salad, and potato salad was served, and mums and other door prizes were raffled throughout the day. Pastor Linda Titzell opened the event with an impromptu prayer. Speakers included Attorney Patrick Cawley of Keystone Elder Law, Josiah Williams of Keller Financial, Linda Thompson from the Adams County Office for Aging, and representatives from home care, hospice, and palliative service organizations.

The day concluded with a presentation by Gabriella Bieber, Licensed Funeral Director at Dugan Funeral Homes, who spoke about funeral planning. The Brethren Home’s Lifespring Day Service and Memory Support also offered an informational table.

Organizers expressed gratitude for the opportunity to provide valuable resources and foster meaningful connections within the community. While end-of-life conversations can be difficult, the fair offered a safe, supportive environment and peace of mind for those in attendance.
