Prince of Peace features the art of Dixon Brady through May 14

Works by the late Gettysburg artist Dixon Brady will be on display in the Stahle Parlor of The Memorial Church of the Prince of Peace, Gettysburg’s Episcopal parish, now through May 14. The church is located at 20 West High Street in Gettysburg.

Brady, who died earlier this year, sculpted in wood and stone, painted to explore both narrative and formal ideas, and made drawings in various media.  Numerous examples of his work in all these media are included in the exhibition.

The artwork is open to the public during the parish’s hospitality hour at 11:30 a.m. Sundays.  Refreshments are served, with free parking available in the rear of the church. (Adjacent, on-street parking is free until 1 p.m.)

Brady studied at Virginia Commonwealth University and Indiana University, Bloomington. His long career encompassed art direction and visual design, and teaching at the university level. The artwork has been made available through the kindness of his widow, S. Kay Hoke, a parishioner at Prince of Peace, and his family.

Additional examples of Brady’s work can be found at https://www.dixonbrady.com/.

The parish’s Stahle Parlor, the parish’s fellowship hall, regularly features the work of local artists. The works are curated by parishioner and artist Jean Siderio.
