Prince of Peace showcases art of Sallie Metz Biddle

The Memorial Church of the Prince of Peace, Gettysburg’s Episcopal parish, will showcase the art of the late Sallie Metz Biddle in the parish’s Stahle Parlor now through the end of February.
The church is located at 20 West High Street in Gettysburg. Free parking is available in the rear of the church. Visitors are welcome to view the exhibition on Sunday mornings following the parish’s 10:15 a.m. service, beginning at about 11:30. Light refreshments will be served.

The Stahle parlor serves as the parish’s fellowship hall and, following recent renovations, also as an art gallery. The artwork changes several times a year and is curated by parishioner and artist Jean Siderio.

Biddle art

About the artist: Sallie Metz Biddle studied art in Maine and Washington, D.C., and painted in oil and watercolors. Numerous examples of her work in both media are in the exhibition. The paintings have been made available through the generosity of Biddle’s daughter, Prince of Peace parishioner Cornelia Saltzman.

Previous displays have featured the artistry of Carolyn Fouts, Martha Randall, the late Mel Shull, and Jean Siderio.
