Radulovic’s career day leads Bullets past Washington

Gettysburg used a 22-0 run over the final 6:32 of the first half and first 2:55 of the second half to erase an eight-point Washington (Md.) advantage and build a 14-point lead en route to an 83-69 victory Saturday at Bream Gym.

Kosta Radulovic led the Bullets with 24 points on a perfect 10-for-10 shooting day from the floor. The 10 made field goals were the most without a missed shot in program history. He also had five rebounds, two steals, and a blocked shot.

Behind 12-for-16 shooting, Washington built a double-digit lead in the game’s first eight minutes. Up 7-6, Nicho Simes hit a 3-pointer, and Ben Costello drove and scored to stretch the advantage to 21-6 with

15:49 to play in the opening half. Five straight points from Nolan Waldon and a third 3-pointer from Ty Woodland opened up a 19-8 lead with 12:56 on the clock. The lead remained at least six points until Jordan Stafford hit two free throws to make it 23-19 with 8:27 showing. The lead swelled back to as large as nine and stood at 31-23 on a Simon triple with 6:32 to play. Two Akim Joseph free throws 24 seconds later started a 14-0 close to the half. Four different players scored for the Bullets, including a pair of corner treys for Lorenzo Carrara to help the hosts to a 37-31 halftime edge.

Baskets from four different Bullets stretched the advantage to 45-31 with 17:22 on the clock. Woodland finally halted the 9-minute, 27-second scoring drought with a three-point play. The Shoremen got back to within nine twice, but Gettysburg extended the lead to as large as 15 on a Nate Williams turnaround in the lane with 11:53 showing. Washington once again trimmed the deficit to 55-64, but a Radulovic three-point play and Stafford’s second-chance basket extended the lead back to 14 with 6:48 to play. The Bullets maintained a lead between 12 and 18 points the rest of the way.

Gettysburg finished with a 47-22 rebounding advantage. Carl Schaller led the way on the glass with a season-high 10 boards. Joseph chipped in 15 points, seven rebounds, four steals and three blocked shots. Williams and Stafford also reached double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Williams also pulled down eight rebounds.

Ty Woodland scored 21 points of his own to lead the Shoremen, hitting his first six shots of the day. Nolan Waldon added 19 points and six rebounds.

Gettysburg returns to action at Johns Hopkins on Wednesday. Game time is 8 p.m.
