The Gettysburg Community Parade Committee is gearing up for two fun fall events.
The committee will host the Gettysburg Community Halloween Parade at 7:15 p.m., Oct. 22 and the Gettysburg Community Christmas Parade at 6 p.m., Dec. 6, according to chair Alex J. Hayes.
The Halloween Parade has a rain date of Oct. 23, the Christmas Parade has no rain date, Hayes said.
Both parades begin at the Gettysburg Area Middle School.
The Halloween Parade travels north on Baltimore Street, east on York, north on Liberty, southwest on Lefever and ends at the Middle School.
The Christmas Parade travels northeast on Lefever Street, south on Liberty, east on Middle, south on Baltimore, south on Steinwehr and ends on Culp Street.
Registration is free thanks to many generous sponsors. Registration forms are available at the Gettysburg Times office and www.gettysburgpa.gov/community-events.
The Halloween Parade has a registration deadline of Oct. 11. Those who register by the deadline will receive an email with details no later than Oct. 18.
The Christmas parade has a deadline of Nov. 26. Those who register by the deadline will receive an email with details no later than Dec. 3.
“These parades are organized by a 100 percent all-volunteer committee,” Hayes said.
“We greatly appreciate everyone registering as soon as possible and respecting the deadlines so our volunteers have time to finalize the lineup while still tending to their professional and personal lives.”
Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three entries in each category, as determined by a panel of judges.
