On the occasion of his retirement as president of the Gettysburg Borough Council, Jake Schindel received a key to the city from Mayor Ted Streeter.
The council members thanked him for his service with a round of applause.
Schindel will be replaced at a special council meeting to be held on August 23 at the borough office. The borough said they had received applications from four applicants to fill in for him until a replacement can be elected in the November elections and that they will elect one of them for the position.
