Democratic Candidate for PA Senate District 33 Cameron Schroy announced his affiliation with the Pennsylvania Forward Party (FWD) this morning in front of the Adams County Courthouse.
“Not Left, not Right, but Forward,” said Schroy in his comments. “I am a Civics teacher and I care deeply about our community. Teaching and learning is a lifelong mission.”
Schroy called for adequate funding of public schools, ample opportunities for local jobs, and care for older adults. “Seniors should be able to enjoy the fruits of their labor,” he said.
FWD supports moderate candidates from either party who are in races against extremist candidates. The goal is to “restore the center.”
FWD Co-chair Andrew Yang introduced Schroy. “Cameron is exactly the kind of person you want,” he said. “Someone who knows how to run. His opponent is an emblem of what’s going wrong.”
Yang said Mastriano had little interest in improving the lives of the residents in his district, but that Schroy would be focused on local needs.
“We need to stand up for our democracy in a way we haven’t had to in our lifetimes,” he said. “The action is going to be right here in your community.”
Yang was a Democratic candidate for president in 2020 but changed his party affiliation to Independent in 2021.
Forward Party attorney general candidate Eric Settle and treasurer candidate Chris Foster also attended the event.
“The center needs to be heard,” said Settle. “In the world of divisive politics, something in the center is appreciated. The goal is to establish the party for the future.
