Researchers have identified two new species of large stick insects in Far North Queensland, Australia, showing that even heavily observed landscapes can still hold biological surprises.
The newly described species are Anchiale robusta and Anchiale mabiensis. The latter has so far been found only in the Mabi Forest on the Atherton Tablelands.
The University of Sydney-led research also reinstated another species that had previously been grouped with a different one. The research was published in Austral Entomology.
